Donald "Duke" E. Ducat

Donald E. “Duke” Ducat age 89 of Irons passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at his home. Don was born November 11, 1930 in VanWert, Ohio the son of Leonard and Charlotte (Graf) Ducat. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He owned and operated Duke & Son’s Plumbing and Heating and Duke’s Hardware in Sand Lake. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was a member of Gideons International. He was a longtime active member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Howard City and helped start Resurrection Lutheran Church in Sand Lake. He was presently a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Scottville. He loved life, the Lord and his family. Surviving are his wife, Norah (Brooks) whom he married on February 19, 1956; children, Barbara Gillespie, Sherilyn (Edwin) Wheeler, Mark (Nancy) Ducat; daughter-in-law, Brenda Ducat; grandchildren, Ryan Shick, Nyha (Tony) French, Tiffany (Jon) Bosma, Kurt (Kate) Snyder, Ashley (Aaron) Whalen, Hillary (Joe) Hilgendorf, Nathaniel (Jessica) Ducat, Donald (Rachel) Ducat, Andrea (Bryan) Richard, Phillip (Kenzie) Wheeler, Sarah (Blake) Baker, Dana Bailey, Jacquelyn Ducat, Jacob Wheeler; 30 great grandchildren; brother, Carl (Nancy) Ducat. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Leonard; grandson, Eddie Wheeler. Because of the Covid-19 Virus a service at Bethel Lutheran Church, Howard City will be announced at a later date. Interment Lakeview Cemetery, Elk Township. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International.
