Donald E. Butler

Donald E. Butler, 92 of Ensley Township, Howard City, went to be with his Lord Thursday, March 29, 2007. Don was born June 19, 1914 in Ensley Township, MI the son of John and Minnie (Topping) Butler. He had accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at the age of 16 and was a member of the South Ensley United Methodist Church. He was a farmer all of his life and had worked at the Sparta Foundry for 25 years. Don was the cemetery sexton for Solon and Ensley Townships for 25 years. Surviving are his wife Margaret (Gould) whom he married on November 3, 1938; 4 sons, Gayle (Anita) Butler of Howard City, Gary (Florence) Butler of Sand Lake, Gregory (Cyndi) Butler of Howard City, Garth Butler of Howard City; 18 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Morey (Joanne) Butler of Howard City; 1 sister, Norma & Ken Rau of Sand Lake; 2 brothers-in-law, Alfred Pratt and Everett Waite; 1 sister-in-law, Donna Butler; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters. The family will receive friends Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs, www.blisswitterspike.com where services will be held Saturday 11:00 am. Grandsons, Pastor Tedd Butler and Pastor Tadd Butler officiating. Interment Crandall Cemetery, Ensley Township. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
