David A. Van Male

David A Van Male, 80 of Pierson, died Wednesday, March 9, 2016 in Florida. David was born October 30, 1935 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Henry and Josephine (Krezelewski) Van Male. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1959 – 1961. He worked for Best Metal Products for 47 years retiring in 2000. He was a charter member of the Grand Rapids Chapter of Michigan Steelheaders for 40 years, member of the Knights of Columbus, Sand Lake and enjoyed dancing, hunting, fishing, traveling and winters in Florida. Surviving are his wife, Marie (Morris) whom he married on September 14, 1963; children, Christine Van Zee, Brian Van Male, Diane Van Male; grandchildren, Nicholas and friend Samantha, Jessica, Michael, Kirstyn, and Connor; sister, Joan (Ed) Bates; sister-in-law, Barb Sagorski; brothers-in-law, John Morris, Richard (Marion) Morris; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, Charles Van Zee; brother-in-law, Ed Sagorski; sister-in-law, Nancy Morris. The family will greet friends Sunday, April 10 from 2-5 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs, where a Rosary will be recited at 4:30 pm. A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, April 11 at 11:00 am at Mary Queen of Apostles, Sand Lake. Rev. Fr. Lam Le celebrant. Private interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or God’s Kitchen, Cedar Springs.
