David L. Moore

David Lawrence Moore, of Kent City, Michigan, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026, at the age of 76. He was born on September 22, 1950. After graduating from Central High School, Grand Rapids. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served first in Germany, then Vietnam. David loved learning new things and had many hobbies including; gardening, target shooting, deer hunting, reloading, and fishing to name but a few. He had a passion for woodworking and passing on his skills to others. He turned over 27,000 pens for the Pens for Troops program, strongly believing that every soldier deserved a pen to write letters home. Reclusive by nature, he would, however, deliver surprisingly insightful statements when in the company of others.

He is survived by his spouse of 56 years, Elaine K. Moore; sons and daughters-in-law, Aaron C. Moore and Christina L. Moore, Thomas D. Moore and Kelly A. Moore; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 10:00 am at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 2894 Patterson Avenue SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49512. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in David's name may be made to Elara Care Hospice, 630 Kenmoor Ave., SE Ste. 200, Grand Rapids MI 49546 or to Brightbird.org (They bring disabled veterans hunting and are in Marshall, MI).
