David W. Cook

March 19, 1937 — July 18, 2023

David Wayne Cook, through his accepting Christ as his personal Savior, entered into his eternal home with Him on Tuesday, July 18, 2023. He was born in Sparta MI on March 19, 1937, the third of four children to Rev Wayne and Ethel Cook. He graduated from Sparta High School in 1955, and moved to Tucson AZ where he married his wife of 58 years, Eleanor VanderJagt and served in the US Air Force Reserves as a military police officer. In 1964, they returned to Sparta, at which time he began his career in construction at Pioneer Construction digging footings at Union High School, and eventually worked his way up to VP of Operations, and later partnering a Construction Management Company and owning an Inspection Business. David was preceded in death by his parents, his first love, Eleanor, his siblings and their spouses, Robert Losinger, Rev Thomas and Phyllis Zylstra, Paul Cook, Robert and Marva VanderJagt, Rev Martin Jensen, Michael Turner, Clifford Barr, Casey VanderJagt, and his second wife, Evelyn, who filled his broken heart. He is survived by his children David E Cook, Jeannie and Larry Keizer, Dawn and Douglas Twiest, his grandchildren Gerrit and Amanda Keizer, Mitchel and Gina Keizer, Ashley and Aaron and Osborn, Brandi and Jonathan Dora, Austen and Cassondra Twiest, Caleb and Taylor Cook, his great-grandchildren Brody Dora, Savannah Osborn, Ryan Keizer, Declan Dora, Scarlette Osborn, Sullivan Dora, Maybella Osborn, Oakley Keizer, Madelyn Keizer, Autumn Keizer, Solomon Osborn, Olivia Twiest, Beckett Keizer, Kaylee Twiest, and Dakota Cook. He also leaves behind his siblings Faith Losinger, Judy Cook, Thelma Jensen, Kay Turner, Margie Barr, and Linda VanderJagt, and numerous Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, and friends that were very dear to him. We thank Green Acres Nursing Home and Interim Hospice for the tender care provided Dad during these last weeks of his life. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 28 from 5-8 pm and Saturday, July 29 from 10-11 am at Algoma Baptist Church - 10515 Grange Ave NE - Rockford MI. The Funeral will be held on Saturday, July 29 at 11:00 am, with a luncheon to follow. Memorial contributions can be made to Algoma Baptist Youth Ministries. Arrangements by K.E.
