David L. Bowen, 85 of Cedar Springs, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 7, 2013 with his family having been by his side. He was born April 29, 1928 in Erie County, PA. Mr. Bowen was a longtime resident of northwestern Pennsylvania. He served in the U.S. Army being honorably discharged in 1946. For 35 years he was employed by Dresser Industries in Olean, NY. He was also self employed. Raising black angus cattle was one of his favorite interests. Remembering him are his children, David Bowen, Jr. of Westminster, CA, Cynthia (Keith) Moe of Cedar Springs, Chris Bowen of Rockford, Brian (Joyce) Bowen of Cedar Springs, Thomas (Deadra) Bowen of Grand Rapids; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 2 half brothers and 2 half sisters, Richard (Lucille) Cochran of Arizona, Paul (Carol) Cochran of Colorado, Delores (James) Snyder-Moon of Kansas, Cynthia (Lamont) Cupp of Colorado; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Lewis; adopted parents, Daniel and Cecil Bowen, and Marie Bowen; half brother, Arthur Cochran. The family will greet friends Tuesday from 5 – 7 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs, where services will be held at 7:00 pm. Pastor Michael Shiery officiating. Interment McKean Memorial Cemetery in Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Hospice or Pilgrim Bible Church.
