Darryl Paul Harrison passed on July 11, 2023, at home under the care of Faith Hospice of Grand Rapids. He is survived by his loving partner, Joanne Fiedler of Grand Rapids; son, Theo Josef Harrison of Grand Rapids; twin brother, Dayle and Constance Harrison of Saugatuck; brother, Phillip and Sue Harrison of Cedar Springs and sister-in-law, Janice Harrison of Kent City. He was preceded in death by father, John D. Harrison; mother, Genevieve (Emmorey) Harrison and brother, John (Jack) Harrison of Kent City. Born on D-Day during World War II, Darryl grew up in rural Kent City on the family farm with his twin and two older brothers. He attended Chubbuck Country School and Kent City Public Schools. After graduating Kent City High School in 1962, Darryl served in the Navy for four years. With the GI Bill, he attended Grand Valley State University. Bridge was a pastime Darryl and Joanne eagerly shared for 15 years. Darryl was an avid duplicate bridge player and a member of the American Contract Bridge League for 40 years. He obtained the prestigious ranking of Sapphire Life Master. He was the ultimate deer-slayer with bow and gun, bringing home venison every season to share with family. He loved the outdoors and spending time with his son Theo. Cremation is arranged with K.E. Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. A military plaque honoring Darryl will be placed in his parents’ burial plot in Chubbuck Cemetery, Kent City. No public visitation or funeral is scheduled in lieu of Darryl’s wishes.
