Clarence "Bob" Sommer

Clarence “Bob” Sommer, 75 of Cedar Springs, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at Spectrum Health – Butterworth Campus. Bob was born December 16, 1934 in Bellaire, Ohio the son of Clarence and Elnora (Saiter) Sommer. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 – 59 and worked in construction all of his life. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Linda (Hawkins); 3 children, Robert Sommer of Carson City, NV, Charles (Joelene) Sommer of Cedar Springs, Janet (Andrew) Abare of Washington Court House, Ohio; 5 grandchildren, Charlene, Ethan, and Hannah Sommer, Isaac and Deborah Abare; 2 sisters, Elnora Pettit-Conover and Dorothy (Chuck) Rastetter. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1-3 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. The funeral service will be held Sunday 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Cedar Springs. Pastor Jim Howard officiating. Interment Elmwood Cemetery, Cedar Springs. Memorial contributions may be made to Pine Ridge Bible Camp, 8415 – 17 Mile Road, Cedar Springs, MI 49319.
