Carl Chockley, age 69, recently of Rockford, previously of East Tawas, Michigan passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Bishop Hills Assisted Living in Rockford, MI. Carl James Chockley was born on December 19, 1944 in Hobbs, New Mexico. He was the son of Burton and Margaret Chockley. He grew up in Imlay City. Carl is an Imlay City High School graduate with the class of 1963. Carl served in the U. S. military during the Vietnam War. He retired from GM Milford Proving Grounds after 33 years as a truck driver. Carl was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. He is survived by his son: Jeffery ( Emily ) Chockley of New London, Ohio. Daughters: Andrea ( Matthew ) Melvin of Middleville and Barb ( Elisha ) Fisk of Cedar Springs. Grandchildren: Blake, Kaleb, Chloe, Phoebe, Grace, Josie, and Ava. Carl is preceded by his parents Burton and Margaret Chockley. The Funeral Service will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City. The family will be available for visiting from 2 - 5 & 6 - 8 p.m. Friday and 10 am - 11:30 am Saturday. A Veteran's Salute will be held at 7:15 pm Friday evening at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Imlay City. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Diabetes Association.
