Bruce R. Spaanstra

Bruce R. Spaanstra age 72, died peacefully Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Blodgett Hospital. He was born March 18, 1952 in East Grand Rapids, the son of Robert and Esther (VanSledright) Spaanstra. Bruce worked for 35 years at Meijer. He was an ardent University of Michigan fan. He loved to play tennis with his brother, and golf. Bruce also enjoyed downhill skiing in Colorado. Bruce and his family enjoyed many years of camping at Aloha State Park in Northern Michigan. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Bruce is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Bonnie; daughters, Amanda (Daniel) Spaanstra-Waegel, Caitlin Spaanstra; sister, Marcia (James) Deur; twin brother, James (Sue) Spaanstra; and a niece and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will greet friends Friday, February 28 from 5:00-7:00 pm at K.E. Pike Funeral Home in Cedar Springs. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 1 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with visitation an hour prior. Mr. Josh Hendricks, officiating.
