Brian D. Percy

June 20, 1938 — July 24, 2025

Brian Dale Percy, age 87, was born on the twentieth day of June in 1938. He has left this earth on Thursday, July 24, 2025, and passed on to his eternal home and now resides with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Brian was the youngest of three children born to DeWain and Ruth (DeGraff) Percy in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He spent his entire educational years in Kalamazoo where he graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School, following the footsteps of his father, DeWain, older sister, Doris and brother, Dave. Brian earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Western Michigan University.

Brian served two years active duty with the United States Naval Reserve with the classification of Journalist. He spent most of his working years selling products to people starting with the retail grocery business and then moving into the retail hardware field. From there he spent several years selling building materials where he learned to estimate and sell pole buildings. His last career move was to establish Percy’s Post Frame Buildings, with the help of his wife, Kathy, which he operated until his retirement at the age of 72.

Brian and Kathy enjoyed many activities such as raising and training Morgan horses for 20 years, traveling around the United States, spending time in the winter in Florida, reading, and visiting with friends and relatives. Brian and Kathy normally had several dogs and cats on the premises which required a lot of love and attention.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Doris Kamp, brother, David Percy, brothers-in-law, Thomas Starr and Roger Starr, sisters-in-law, Norma Curtis, Patricia Starr, and Dorothy Percy. He will be deeply missed by Kathy, his wife of 41 years; son, Scot (Loretta) Shields; grandson, Alden Shields of Graham, TX; and in-laws; Philip Starr of Sand Lake, Linda Starr of Ludington, and Ruth Starr of Michigamme.
