Brian John Botbyl age 71 of Twin Lake, died Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at his home. He was born June 10, 1953 in Muskegon, the son of Richard and Carolyn (Staples) Botbyl. Brian graduated from West Michigan Christian High School in 1972. He worked for Shaw Walker/Knoll in Muskegon for 37 years. He made and sold hand crafted furniture. Brian was the proud inventor of the Beeper Pole (ice fishing pole) and the TeePal (golf teeing device). Brian loved golf and enjoyed several trips with his golfing buddies. In his later years, when his health failed, he played golf on Xbox to enable him to stay in the game.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Kathleen (Rowland); son, Adam (Renee) of Pflugerville, TX; brothers, Brad of Muskegon, Brent (Becky) of Bertram, TX; sister, Bretta DeRouin of Muskegon; special friends, Jeff McManus, Larry Johnson, and Barbara Botbyl; several nieces and nephews. Brian was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, John DeRouin.
Graveside services will be held 11:30 am, Friday, April 25, 2025 at Elmwood Cemetery in Cedar Springs. In Lieu of flowers, donation may be made in Brian’s name to Big Lake Humane Society. 2640 Marquette Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442. Arrangements by K.E. Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs.
