Betty Jane Schipper 92 of Cedar Springs, died Thursday, July 18, 2013 in Grand Rapids. Betty was born July 3, 1921 in Grand Rapids, MI the daughter of Charles and Naomi DeYoung. She was a medical technician in the United States Army during World War II. Surviving are her sons, Jack C. (Mary Ellen) Schipper of Wyoming and Jerry F. Schipper of Cedar Springs; brother, James (Peggy) Blanksma; 8 grandchildren especially Jody her special caregiver; 7 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Schipper Jr. in 1993; daughter, Jeane L. Gowen and sisters, Peggy Briggs and Cheryl Brocke. She was presently the church secretary at Pioneer Christian Reformed Church and was active in Pioneers, Mary and Martha Society, and Golden Glows. Her interests included genealogy, embroidery, knitting and plastic canvas. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home where services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor James Alblas officiating. Interment Spencer Mills Cemetery. Memorials to the Pioneer Christian Reformed Church Building Fund.
