Barbara J. Moon 80 of Pierson went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at her home. Mrs. Moon was born October 10, 1929 in Grand Rapids, MI the daughter of Harry and Clarabelle (Meade) Dewey. She loved to cook, fish, camp and enjoyed her grandkids and great grandkids. She loved to nurse young orphaned birds and release them back to nature. She was known to be Annie Oakley and kept a loaded .22 in the kitchen which was needed to keep the squirrels and raccoons out of her bird feeder. She was a member of the Church of the Full Gospel in Sand Lake and very involved in church activities. She enjoyed cooking at their camp and working in the J.O.Y. Club and Vacation Bible School. Surviving are her husband, Edwin whom she married on July 1, 1950; 3 daughters, Kathleen Moon, Janet King, Mary Ellen Fish; 3 grandchildren, Terri Troupe, Ryan (Amanda) King, Justin King; 3 great grandchildren, Jacqueline, Kesslie and Nathon Troupe; 1 brother, Richard (Hazel) Annis; 1 brother-in-law, John (Valita) Moon; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, Doris Hardy; 1 brother, Nile Potter; 2 sons-in-law, Duane Fish and Charles “Cal” King who are waiting for her with open arms for her pies. A special thanks to Great Lakes Hospice and nurse Margie Behr. The family will receive friends Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. The funeral service will be held Saturday 1:00 pm at the Church of the Full Gospel, Sand Lake with visitation beginning at 12 noon. Pastor Gary Giddings officiating. Interment Pierson Cemetery. Memorial contributions to Great Lakes Hospice.
