Avis M. Johnson, 92 of Cedar Springs died at home surrounded by her family on Friday, August 19, 2011. Avis was an accomplished seamstress and excelled at all crafts, especially needlework. She and her husband spent many years enjoying nature, travel, camping, and square dancing. She was also an avid fisherman. She is survived by her husband, Millard O. Johnson; three children, Janice (E. John) Trimberger of Rockford, Wayne (Diane) Johnson of Grand Haven, Karen (Randy) Childs of Georgetown, TX; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; four sisters, Dorothy Duffing of Baldwin, Donna Lamb of Bitely, Marjorie (Roy) Oberg of Rockford and Phyllis Alexa of St. Augustine, FL; a brother, Joseph (Shelly) Shaddock of Walkerville; several nieces and nephews. A private family service will be held on Wednesday, August 24 at Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. Interment will take place in Lilly Township Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Faith Hospice in Grand Rapids have been suggested.
