Arthur H. Smith

Arthur H. Smith, 89 of Grand Rapids, formerly of Cedar Springs, went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Wednesday, June 23, 2010. Mr. Smith was born December 15, 1920 in Solon Township, MI the son of Archie and Lura (Heeter) Smith. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army and retired as Plant Manager from Keeler Brass Company after 36 years of service. He was a devout Christian and member of First Baptist Church, Cedar Springs. He enjoyed sports, especially golf, and hunting and fishing. His last few years were spent at Emerald Meadows Assisted Living where he was enjoyed by many of the staff and residents. A special thank you to the staff for their kindness and care. Surviving are two sons and their spouses, Philip & Kenda Smith of Flushing, Kim & Connie Smith of Cedar Springs. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine “Gerry” Smith in 2008; two sisters and one brother, Norma Jean Smith, Thelma Veley, and Robert Smith. The family will receive friends Friday from 4-7 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs, where services will be held Saturday 2:00 pm. Pastor Jim Howard officiating. Interment Solon Township Cemetery. Military honors by the U.S. Army. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan or Emerald Meadows Assisted Living.
