Arthur G. Kemp, “Art”, age 92 of Cedar Springs, formerly of Kent City passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Wellspring Lutheran Services, Fairview, MI. Art was born May 20, 1929, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Arthur and Rose (Carr) Kemp. He was married to his wife, Elizabeth, “Betty”, for 67 years. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1946-49, following WWII, in occupied Japan, as an MP for 2 ½ years. Art was the former owner of Kemp’s Sport and Tire in Sparta, MI, which was later moved to Kent City. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting & fishing and enjoyed telling “tall” tales of those adventures. Art also enjoyed collecting coins, polishing stones, as well as gardening with his beloved wife, Betty. He had been a member of the Sparta Masonic Lodge. Surviving are his children, David (Martha) Kemp, Tom (Denise) Kemp, Bob (Kris) Kemp, Barbara Reed, Donna (Gary) Kagel; daughter-in-law, Christine Kemp; 29 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth “Betty”; sister, Janet; son, Jerry; son-in-law, John Reed; grandsons Vaughn and Steven; and great grandson, Derek. Cremation has taken place. The family will greet friends Wednesday, July 6, from 10:00 am until time of memorial service at 11:00 am at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. Pastor David Kemp officiating.
