Alice L. Sluijer

Alice L. Sluijer age 95, loving mother and grandmother, went to be with her Lord on Friday, September 12, 2025 at her home. A lifelong resident of Sand Lake she was born March 7, 1930 the daughter of Oscar and Ruth (Plumb) Reed. She was preceded in death by her parents, four older brothers and a younger sister. Alice met her husband, Loren Sluijer while working at Wolverine. He passed away in 2007. The Sluijers farmed not only their land but did custom work for folks around the neighborhood and worked in the factory. Alice was a jack-of-all-trades. She loved to weld, and make unique creations, some of which were used for display. She enjoyed fixing things, whether overhauling an engine or doing body work. She taught her family, by example, that with hard work and a good attitude anything is possible. Alice attributes her strength to God’s enduring faithfulness. Surviving are her children, Ruth Ann Evans, Arnold (Char) Sluijer; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Madelin Reed; many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors; special loved ones, Debbie Beuschel, Luisa Sutherby. She was loved by all who knew her. She was also preceded in death by her son, Ed and many other loved ones. The family will greet friends Saturday, September 20 from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am at the K.E. Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs. Pastor Darryl Miller officiating.
