Alfred Thomas, 84 of Grand Rapids, formerly of Idelwild, died Thursday, March 16, 2006 at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. Mr. Thomas was born January 15, 1922 in Helena, Arkansas the son of Alfred and Willa (McCarroll) Thomas. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He had worked for the Lake County Road Commission and had served as a Yates Township Commissioner and Fireman. Surviving are 3 daughters, Angela Thomas of Baldwin, Yolanda Thomas of Detroit, Nadine Anderson of Detroit; 14 grandchildren; 1 brother, Morris Thomas of Lansing; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A family hour will be held Monday 12 Noon until time of funeral service at 1:00 pm at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. Chaplain John Posten officiating.
