Adrian “Bud” VanOost, 92 of Pierson, died Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Spectrum Health – Butterworth Campus. Mr. VanOost was born December 2, 1922 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of John and Wilhelminia (Keys) VanOost. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He had been a fruit buyer for National Fruit for 20 years and then worked in the orchards. He enjoyed watching birds and swans, being outdoors and being a 4H leader. He had a great love for his family, friends, and animals. Surviving are his wife, Nathalie; children, Lois Sweet, Carol Train, Kay (Roger) Coalter, Luann (Mike) Earle, Darrell Baehre, Ted (Cathy) Baehre, Jill Warner; 16 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; his wonderful dog, Jake. He was preceded in death by three sons-in-law, Stan Sweet, Bruce Train, and James Earle. The family will greet friends Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Bliss-Witters & Pike Funeral Home, Cedar Springs where services will be held Wednesday 11:00 am. Pastor Roger Coalter officiating. Interment Pierson Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Kent County.
